Do I have to get a visa?
All Americans, Canadians, and many other countries receive a Tourist Visa (FMT) upon entry by air travel for either 90 or 180 days. If you receive 90-day visa and wish to extend to 180-day, it will cost you a small fee. All other countries must apply for a visa before entry. Please contact your local Mexican Consulate for more information at http://www.sre.gob.mx/english/.
Do I need a Religious Visa?
If you plan on being Staff it is highly recommended that you get Religious Visa (FM-3). You will need a letter from your church already notarised and with an apostille. Also, a passport with a minimum validity of 6 months and at least one blank page.
Do I need a Passport?
All countries entering into Mexico need a valid Passport.
Can I bring my car?
Yes, you will want to get Mexican Vehicle Insurance.
Can you pick me up?
We would be pleased to pick you up from the bus station in Guadalajara for $200 pesos or from the Guadalajara Don Miguel Hidalgo International Airport for $150 pesos.
What is the weather like?
The rainy season is from the end of May to September. An umbrella is a very useful tool in this time of year. It is roughly 70-80´s ºF year around. Starting in September the mornings and nights get chilly as low as 45 ºF. It does get cold in the winter monthsDo you have a dress code?Please dress modestly.
Can I drink the water?
At YWAM Guadalajara our water is safe to drink, but outside of our location it is not. You will want to buy bottled water.
Do I need to exchange money before coming?
No, you can exchange money here or withdrawal money in pesos.
What can I pay with?
American dollars or Mexican pesos are the easiest forms.
Is there a store near by?
There are many stores in the nearby towns.
Will I need adapters for my electrical appliances?
Mexico has 120V and 20 amps. The plugs are either two vertical slots or two vertical slots with a round hole centered above. If you are coming from a country that uses 220V current, you will need to use plug adapters and voltage converters. It is usually easier to purchase these in your own country.
Will I need any immunizations or vaccines?
Before coming, please check to see what immunizations your physician or the Center for Disease Control recommends. We recommend that your Tetanus vaccination is current before coming.
Do I need to have health insurance?
USA and Mexican law does not require you to have heath insurance. Although, we strongly recommend that for your entire stay you have international health insurance coverage, we suggest you consider www.talent-trust.com.
Can I bring my laptop?
We recommend that you bring a laptop if you would like. We have wireless Internet access, but be warned...it is very slow here in the mountains! There are several coffee shops and internet cafes in Chapala and Guadalajara.
